I orderer 2 of them. Easy to assemble and work great. We have a lot of wildfires fire in my area. Great peace of mind having them!
Soaks my roof. i connected a stainless steel hose from amazon to this very well made sprinkler. i feel safer after the massive fires in sonoma county destroyed thousands of homes. its likely this will not save a home in the direct line of a firestorm but it will keep your home safe from falling embers. solid , heavy and just makes me feel better if fires ever erupt again. If you have to evacuate turn it on and get the heck out of the fire zone. this device may save your home.
Well worth the money! In 2017, we install three of these, two on our main house and one on an outbuilding. All we had to do was turn on two spigots and water drenches all around our buildings and garden. Aug 2020: we had to evacuate from the CZU wildfire, and the sprinklers worked like a charm. We turned them off after four hours, when our well ran out, but the ground was soaked 3-4 inches. Then we left. Three days later the fire burn around our property and for another four-five days burned all around us, but never touched any part of where the sprinklers had watered. The house below us and three above us were consumed by the fire. We also cleared the undergrowth and small trees as recommended by Cal Fire. The fire dept. did put out a fire on our property across the road, where the sprinklers never watered.
Heavy and fully adjustable legs make it useful for any roof pitch. Adjustable arc on sprinkler up to 360 degrees. Can link sprinklers in series, but the resultant loss of pressure at the second sprinkler on my roof was severe. Using it with a flexible metal hose is advised.
Works as described. Elegant / simple design.
Solidly made with durable components.
I live in a high fire area. Mounted this on my roof and it was very easy. Works great.
I have never in my life written a review... My house, which I have just discovered has survived the wildfire which tragically took out almost every other house in my township last night, before spreading across the valley in one of the biggest wildfires in California this terrible year of 2020. All around the outside of the photo that you don’t see is a hellscape of blackened trees, empty foundations, and downed power lines. The person who sent the photo said that the ONLY reason my house survived was because of my roof sprinkler. He decided to do a makeshift sprinkler situation too before he left, inspired by mine, and his house survived too. I only bought this sprinkler from what I thought was irrational paranoia, and that I would use it on windy nights “for peace of mind” even though I “knew” it wouldn’t really save me if a fire storm came through, since my house is literally dripping with trees overhead and propped up by a dry wood deck. I turned it on before I left, it was on for several hours and might have stopped when the main water pipe in the area melted, but by the time the fire came through some 12 hours after I left, it was at least drenched enough to be able to save everything. Quick notes: my house is 570 square feet and compact, and this sprinkler was perfect. If I tried to use the garden house and the sprinkler at the same time, the sprinkler dwindled, so if you have a bigger house and need more, then make sure you have the water pressure to sustain them. In my case, two wouldn’t have worked at all. Fires are erratic, sometimes touching one house and not another. Many other factors contribute to flammability. I can’t guarantee that this sprinkler will save your house. All I can say is that it is the single reason my house survived. Thank you, sprinkler makers. :)
My family had to evacuate during the El Dorado fire in Yucaipa, this sprinkler saved my home. Thank you!
I do hope that I never have to utilize this or even know its on my roof. But for "Fire Season" it does help me know that if I'm evacuated I turn on the hose and hopefor the best. I live in the flats in a Bay Area suburb which I used to think was enough of a wildfire fire-break. Not so much anymore. When I first looked at the product I thought to myself that is a ridiculous amount of money for what looks to be so simple to build. But once you receive it you can see that a lot of time went into the design and construction. Concrete poured legs with heavy duty everything. Seems to be powder coated even. I just ordered another one so I can link it to my garage and really supersaturate things. I've also ordered a hot water hose that can handle 160F. Again, I hope I never have to use it. Along with my earthquake set-up and flood set-up but that is what it takes to be Californian born and raised. I'd say it's still worth it to stay where the sun sets.
In 1993 I lived in Laguna Beach CA and a wildfire combined with high air temperatures and fast Santa Ana winds roared through our town. We lost no lives thankfully but our town lost 366 homes, 50 of which were on my street. I was renting at that point and gathered my things and left early. When I returned most of the homes on my street were burnt to the ground. My rental was still standing in a row of 3 homes that made it through the fire. My neighbors to each side of my place had stayed and watered their roofs until the fire department could get to them. Ours were the only 3 homes that made it in this section of our street. I don't recommend staying during a wildfire but my neighbor's efforts to water their roofs and mine made me realize that I could have an impact on the chances of my home surviving a fire. I have uploaded a video you can watch that shows me doing a trial run on the sprinklers you are considering here. I highly recommend this product as it is well built and easy to install. The product designer/company owner was very helpful to me by phone. A few points to consider: He recommended a hot water hose to connect the sprinkler as they are more durable. I purchased a 50 foot hot water hose at Home Depot. I was tempted to purchase a metal wrapped hose but he let me know that the actual diameter of hoses of this type are generally to small. I also found some textured spray paint to make my sprinkler blend in with my roof shingles. This was easy to do, I suggest covering the sprinkler head during this process. My sprinkler is working well and I have ordered another to put at the other side of my roof. I highly recommended this product.
Bought mine direct. Well thought out and well made product. Will adjust to fit any roof pitch and heavy enough to stay put. While this system may not absolutely ensure your home won't catch fire.......it's a MUCH better option than putting your faith in only the fire department. I live in N. California, near Redding, and know of two homes that did NOT burn because they installed sprinklers on their roofs. Nuff said!

With fires becoming more and more common in San Diego and Firefighters unable to be in so many places at one time, it is nice to know that I can at least do something to keep my home a little bit safer. I don't think a few sprinklers are going to stop a huge fire on their own, but it can help to reduce temperatures in my home and keep a hot ember from setting my roof on fire.
During the recent Coco's Fire, I frantically sprayed my yard and parts of my roof with a hose before being forced to evacuate my home with my family. I wish that I could have had more peace of mind when we drove away, not knowing if I had done enough and if our home would still be standing. We were very fortunate two days later when we were allowed to return home that it was still there. I then went online to see what else was available to me as a homeowner in regards to fire protection. I purchased the three pack of sprinklers.
I live off Quail Gardens Drive in Encinitas. My home borders the preserve that is off this street. Though the recent fires did not come too close (thankfully) to my home, I wanted to better prepare myself for any possibilities that a fire could occur in my own backyard, or in the canyon directly behind my home. I purchased two sprinklers and after testing them, feel prepared should a fire occur that the sprinklers would sufficiently cover my home and landscaping in water that embers would not be able to ignite on my property. Within about twenty minutes of running the sprinklers, my yard and house looked like it had been rained on for a number of hours. Everything was soaking wet!
My parents live off Poinsettia Road in Carlsbad and were within reach of the Poinsettia Fire that recently burned a few months back. After evacuating, my mother complained that my father was so concerned with hosing down the home that they did not take enough time to grab all the belongings that she wanted to grab. Lucky for them, their home still stands and their belongings were undamaged. I went online to find a product that would allow them to protect their home while they were evacuating and that would do the job that my father was doing with a garden hose. I found San Diego Rooftop Sprinklers and ordered a set for my parents' home. My father and I were very impressed with the coverage that the sprinkler provided. I think almost fifty feet! I plan on installing some on my own home soon as well.
No sprinkler system or similar device can protect buildings or the occupants of buildings from wildfires. This sprinkler system will distribute water over your property if it is installed correctly, activated in advance, and assuming water is flowing to the sprinklers. Rooftop sprinklers will continue to operate without supervision. Always immediately evacuate a building in case of fire. Never stay inside a building in case of fire. Always evacuate based on instructions from government authorities. If properly installed and operated in accordance with the applicable instructions, a sprinkler will reduce the risks posed by ember attack. Sprinklers will not protect buildings or their occupants from the direct flame or radiant heat of a wildfire. Purchasers install and operate sprinklers at their own risk and release and indemnify the manufacturers and suppliers of sprinklers, along with their directors, officers, servants, agents, employees, and assigns, from and against all actual, direct, indirect, or alleged claims, damages, demands, losses, costs, liabilities, suits, actions, expenses, or proceedings, whether arising under any statute or at common law, arising out of or in connection with injury to (including illness) or death of any person, or damage to or destruction of any real or personal property caused directly or indirectly by or in connection with the manufacture, supply, installation, operation, or performance of sprinklers. The manufacturer is not responsible for adequate water flow to the sprinklers in any event, such as, but not limited to, if the water supply is turned off or if there is a lack of water pressure.
